Remote Sensing & Geographic Information System

A technical talk on Remote Sensing & Geographic Information System was organised by Dept. of Civil Engg. in association with CEA on 27th of March 2015 with encouragement and support of our Beloved Principal Dr. L Basavaraj & our Management. Dr. K J Suresh was the event co-ordinator.


This technical talk was targeted to provide in-depth knowledge on RS&GIS to civil engineering students.
The technical talk was opened with an invocation song by Ms. Sahana Raj of 6th semester followed by welcome note from Srikanth M R, Asst Prof and HOD Civil department. He gave a call to the students to gain a better knowledge of RS&GIS as it is very much essential in the fast paced construction industry, he also gave a hint on applications of RS&GIS.  Ms. Shruthi H G Asst. Professor introduced the expert to the gathering.









Our Hon. Guest Speaker Prof. H Gangadhar Bhat addressed the gathering with respect to RS & GIS with a well-organized power point presentation. In his speech he stated about basics of Remote Sensing, structure of RS, application of RS, satellites and their advantages. Next part he gave a in-depth view about Geographic Information system, its types and its applications.
Professor had also prepared geo-imagery of ATME college by using the RS&GIS (Birds view of ATME)





Students had a quick round of discussion with our expert and students were very much satisfied with the interaction. At the end our expert mentioned the future of RS&GIS as 
" After 15-20 years this RS&GIS can give a real-time image of a tennis court with the details of who served and who received the ball"
Mr.Gowtham Prasad M E Asst. Professor, rendered the  Vote of thanks to the gathering. Ms. Apoorva Kiran Asst. Professor; was the Master of Ceremony for the event. Dr. K J Suresh, event co-ordinator convened the technical talk which proved fruitful to the students community.
